If God has gifted you with a talent for music, whether singing or playing an instrument, please join our vibrant Music Ministry! Participation in Music Ministry is a form of stewardship. Music Ministry members are liturgical ministers who lead the community in sung worship. Please share your musical gifts, given to you by God, with our St. Luke faith community!
A choir recruitment drive and registration are held each year in August as preparations begin for Christmas, and again in January as rehearsals begin for Easter. New members of all ages are also welcome to join the Music Ministry by contacting our Music Coordinator, Michelle Lane, at 985-641-6429 or [email protected].
The Concert Choir (Adults 18 and up) provides music for Confirmation, the annual Christmas Concert, the Christmas Midnight Mass, and the Easter Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil Mass, as well as other special Masses. The rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 7:30-9 PM in the church from mid-August through November. Rehearsals in January until Holy Week are 7:00PM -9:00 PM.
Whether you are interested in singing as part of a weekend Mass choir or solely for the special celebrations and liturgies, such as the annual Christmas Concert, the Christmas Midnight Mass, or the Easter Triduum, all adult groups rehearse together on Tuesday nights in church from mid-August through Easter. Rehearsal times vary with the season, so be sure to check the music ministry calendar.
The youth choir, for grades 6 - 12, rehearses on Wednesdays at 6 pm in the church from mid-August until the Graduation Mass.
The children's choir, for grades 1 - 5, rehearses on Thursdays at 6:30 pm from mid-August until Easter.
Woodwind, string, brass, and percussion instrumentalists are needed to accompany Masses as well as for special liturgies and Taize Prayer services. If you play a musical instrument and are high school age or older*, please join in the music.
For more information on how to join, please contact our Music Coordinator, Michelle Lane, or submit the form below!
*The difficulty of the music requires an advanced musical proficiency.
