Longtime parishioner, Theodore Aucoin, passed away this week. Beloved husband of Jessie Ann Aucoin and father of Harold Anthony (Tara Cunningham) Aucoin, Darlene Ann Aucoin (Bradley Gerard Sr.) Wagner, and Glenn August (Karen Desselle) Aucoin. Prayers are deeply appreciated.

Grieving with Great Hope is a Catholic grief support workshop of five days that offers a prayerful, practical, and personal approach for anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one. It is being hosted by the Our Lady of Lourdes Grief Ministry with the support of the East St. Tammany/Washington Deanery which includes 8 parishes on the Northshore. The workshop will be held at St. Margaret Mary’s Evangelization Building, and the dates are in the bulletin. Registration is only $20 and includes all workshop materials.

STL Multicultural Committee will host a tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. and a panel discussion on January 20th, 2020 at 7 p.m in the Family Life Center. The panel discussion which will follow will feature two well-known area businessmen, Peter Nguyen, owner of Jazzy Pete’s Restaurant on East Gause Blvd., and Will Rachal, a local business owner and founder of Dream Builders’ Network, LLC. They will discuss the opportunities and challenges of living in and operating businesses in the greater Slidell area.
The Multicultural Committee of St. Luke invites you to a presentation on Native American culture on NOVEMBER 18 at 7 pm in the FAMILY LIFE CENTER. In conjunction with National Native American Month, “Words from my Unci (grand-mother)” will be presented by guest speaker Sheryl M. Wagers, B.A., M.S.W., a registered tribal member of the Oglala Sioux tribe, from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. A graduate of Louisiana State University in 1990, and Southern University of New Orleans in 1995, Wagers served an internship with the Department of Veterans Affairs. In that capacity she participated with the Federal Women’s Committee. Wagers was a Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities Scholar in 2001, providing symposiums on the changing role of American Indian women. Wagers has been a clinical social worker with the Veterans’ Administration since 1995. She adds that she is a “proud mother of a University of New Orleans graduate.”
